Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Beef Stroganoff is a classic Russian dish featuring tender beef in a creamy mushroom sauce. Perfect for a cozy dinner, it’s flavorful, hearty, and easy to make for the whole family.

  • 1 pound (450 g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving
  • Season and cook the beef: Season the sliced beef with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the diced onion for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for another 5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  • Create the sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables, stirring to coat. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Add mustard and sour cream: Stir in the Dijon mustard and sour cream, mixing well. Add the cooked beef back into the skillet, stirring to coat in the sauce. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through.
  • Serve: Serve the Beef Stroganoff over egg noodles or rice, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy this creamy, comforting dish!
