Spaghetti Bolognese is a classic Italian pasta dish featuring a rich, hearty meat sauce served over tender spaghetti. Perfect for a comforting dinner, it’s full of flavor and easy to make.
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely diced
- 1 celery stalk, finely diced
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
- Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
- Sauté the vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
- Cook the meat: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook for 7-8 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon until browned.
- Add tomatoes and seasonings: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cook the spaghetti: While the sauce simmers, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Serve: Serve the Spaghetti Bolognese by placing the cooked spaghetti on plates and topping with the Bolognese sauce. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy!
