Pulled Pork Sandwiches are a Southern classic featuring tender, slow-cooked pork shoulder, shredded and served with barbecue sauce on soft buns. Perfect for gatherings, game days, or a satisfying family meal.
- 3 pounds (1.4 kg) pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus more for serving)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 6 hamburger buns
- Coleslaw (for topping, optional)
- Prepare the pork: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- Cook the pork: Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth around the pork and add 1 cup of barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Shred the pork: Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices to keep it moist.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Place a generous amount of pulled pork on each bun. Add extra barbecue sauce if desired, and top with coleslaw for added flavor and crunch.
- Serve: Enjoy the Pulled Pork Sandwiches warm, with a side of your favorite chips or pickles!
