Mozzarella Sticks are a classic appetizer, featuring gooey melted mozzarella cheese coated in crispy, golden breadcrumbs. Perfect for parties or a quick snack, these cheese sticks are best served with marinara sauce for dipping.
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
- Prepare the coating stations: Set up three bowls. One with flour, another with the beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the mozzarella sticks: Roll each mozzarella stick in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the seasoned breadcrumbs. For an extra crispy texture, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating process a second time.
- Freeze the sticks: Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly while frying.
- Fry the mozzarella sticks: Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the mozzarella sticks in small batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping, and enjoy your crispy, gooey Mozzarella Sticks!
